I'm new to GG. Is it possible to edit terrain without the default circular blending tool, instead use a square placement tool for such terrain like roads and parking lots? I'm looking for straight edges, and not the blending effect like the default terrain tool gives you. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately not.
Round is all GameGuru has.
Most create models for roads and carparks type of thing.

well, i assume only indirectly, u could made the circle small and just draw a square with it like with a brush tool or something, i think u can even make straight lines by holding shift alt or ctrl or something if i remember.

Hmm, while I think you can get something that looks kind of right with a lot of trial and error, you will be much better off using models for roads and parking lots. thats generally how its done with the majority of games too.

A square placement tool would be great. Then you could have road / path textures without having to resort to models.

While there isn't really a tool for this in the engine. You can press G and then press and hold the left button to put down the terrain texture than use the WASD keys to move around to draw the terrain in straight lines. If you look at the area to the right you'll see a near solid lined rectangle of grass.

Some models, when you place them, they modify the terrain to fill out
the model footprint whether wide or narrow, a smallfoot or a Bigfoot.
I think it's an .fpe setting -- perhaps our specialists can verify.

Looking for the thread that discussed snap / aligning objects 'b' button.
Where did it go... ? lol

I got the click-to-build-walls -- demonstration script done as I suggested in that thread...
