Just as the title says. I run the updater and every time it finds 1 file missing which it downloads then it will run.
Doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would only affect one person but I've seen no mention of it.

I have not encountered it, so you could well be right. Although I leave Max to run the updater when it needs to and (until today) never run it directly. You have tried verifying I imagine?
SPECS: Ryzen 1700 CPU. Nvidia 970GTX. 16 Gig Memory. Win 10.

It sounds exactly like the kind of issue that could only effect a handful of people. It sounds like a possible read/write issue, possibly with permissions. Make sure max has full write permissions.
Primary Desktop:
i7 7700,k NV1070 8GB, 16GB 3200mhz memory, 1x 2TB Hybrid, Win10.
Secondary Desktop:
i5 4760k, NV960 2GB, 16GB 2333mhz memory, 1x 2TB Hybrid, Win10.

i3, Intel 4000 series graphics, 6GB memory, 1x 500gb HDD, Win8.1.

I run verify files...wait...it comes up with 1 file missing then proceeds to download it. If there was a problem writing the file
I don't see how it would start unless just having it in memory makes it possible(over my head how to research something like that)
I wish it would name the missing file then so I'd have a better report. Thanks for the replies. Hopefully something will come up in the dev process so this can be addressed. Just wanted to mention it.

Amazingly enough I just now did a registry scan with CCleaner and now it's starting. I didn''t see GGMax in the printout so it must've been related to another issue. So, safe to say it's not something inherent with GGMax(to the best of my knowledge)
Good to have this if anyone else runs into the issue.

You're welcome for the info. I know when I run into something I search to see if anyone else has reported it.
Just don't want to get left behind as the game progresses. I'm loving how this is looking and working so far.
