Hmm, they have suddenly appeared after two reboots of MAX.

Please tell me how this is intuitive!

I think widgets should be left on by default. Can't say how annoying it is in general when moving pre-placed items around without one. Free movement is great when just sprinkling stuff about willy nilly, but when you want to move an item or items along a single axis more precisely is rubbish.

I've never understood why we can't have all the widgets on at the same time, i.e. position rotation and scale, plenty of 3D apps and game engines manage it.

Click the circles to rotate, click the arrows to reposition, click the squares to scale.

The system seems sound, just need widgets on by default I think. Everyone would be happy. What TGC seems to consider advanced options are really just expected ones I don't think they are confusing anyone. They can't be?

The cynic in me says that they buggered up the widget and rather than fix it they simply decided to hide the ugly!

It is a bit slow when you re-enable the widget Can't see why that's so, but seems to be the case. All they need with the existing system is to allow you to drag about on each plane just by dragging the new nice selection area, while having the widget for more fine tuning aspects Which it does, but it really struggles.

Pleas put the translation widget back in as default, there is a reason that almost every game engine and modelling package has a translation widget by default, it's because it is an intuitive way to translate an object, having to search on a sidebar for the correct slider is counter intuitive and to be quite frank annoying as hell, anyone who has ever used a 3D package will automatically look for a translation widget when trying the software for the first time, not having it available by default could drive customers away.

@Belidos. Agreed. I'm surprised more haven't mentioned it. It can be a bit slow though, so maybe it was removed by default for that reason. But yeah, your not likely to come up with a better way to navigate than the existing system in any 3D packages of any note. They have been perfecting it for years. Seems like a wheel that does not need to be invented to me.

Oh, while I'm here I noticed that the grouping feature does not work with dynamic objects?

Oh and the undo still does not do anything and the map I mentioned earlier that lost it's light settings was also flipped in direction (which I should have said) Originally it started from the bottom facing up, after the update was at top facing down.
