In my level, the terrain mesh is almost the whole GG terrain, with exception of the border than will be water, later on.
The cave runs almost the entire perimeter underground.
And the idea is to build an underworld there, which will serve as a refuge and place to trade since everything is contaminated outside.

Really cave can be fake, even the hole on terrain can be fake too as you can see in my pic above.
The point is that if the terrain is not built with the idea of allowing you to dig into it, from the beginning, then it will be more difficult to add this as a feature, in the future.

"swimming sorted given the choice."
Same category as caves; Quite easy red-necked with a user script.
So scripts can transport and scripts can swim the player.

BTW, why teleport for a cave? The models can be the hill/ roof too...
My very very first "game" had a walking into cave @ NE Pakistan.
Wouldn't have won that many awards, but it was a little fun.
Maybe I should pull it back out... and go for a swim in the cave.

Nothing like it.
Its more in the Movement category like walking but I guess we don't need that either as we could script teleports everywhere if you want to look at it that way

It was an example of how Skyrim works, because they couldn't use the roof of the terrain for it
Anyway unless you want Max to be slower than GG I wouldn't push for complicated terrain systems. In Wicked I dropped the system down to 8 fps with 4 terrain tiles quite easily. 4 terrains that were tiny as well.

@Syncromesh haha VR - right?!
I've run out of motivation at the moment to get much more algebraic
feeling homework done. Maybe in a bit. It's basically done- just needs
transfer to environment.

@DVader ; what?! that's some sticky computations there, like what's the
deal with the molasses slowing things down so much I wonder?

Just skimmed the last chunk of posts before the new week begins. Sorry if I mislead anyone regarding terrain holes and mutli-grass! There are no plans cut holes in the terrain (if you find a post where I promised this please post it here as I have been burned enough from the five years of comments over what Classic should have included and I want to get it right this time with MAX). The multiple grass types is a must-have and will be included to create realistic coverage of grasses with the new terrain system.

if at any time anyone is disillusioned about the progress or direction of GameGuru MAX (and have pre-ordered), feel free to obtain a refund and we will be releasing a 'free' trial version in September for you to try. From here on, best to consider 'anything' suggested by the community or opinioned by me as 'not planned' for inclusion into MAX (or at best something to think about for the future). Again, if in any distress, wait until September. The proof is always in the pudding
GameGuru Classic will continue to be supported with bug fixes and functionality additions.

That's a good addiction for me, really useful and necessary.
Not sure about English name, but a color dropped maybe a good tool to get grass color matching with your cave mesh texture. I hope someone understands what I'm talking about.

@3com a colour dropper Like in a paint package, we know what you mean Yeah that would be a useful addition.

Perhaps an option to colour the terrain texture as you paint grass, so it matches it better and looks a more natural transition when the grass gets drawn in the distance. With the option to paint over it later of course. Just a different grass tool or sub option of it.
