ah well... it wont even load the first level then.

Your video card has about 1 gb video memory..

minimum memory for Dark Skies is 4 gb - and even then it crashes sometimes.
Sorry to disapoint you

just played the start and i enjoyed the introduction and the ambience alot- and the shooting was fun.
was just starting to think- "meh it´s easy i play Dead Air and Anomaly all the time this won´t hurt at ..."
BANG and then i died lol
(the gun and bullet ricochet noises were really cool btw)
made me want to play it to the end later- will do a new start.
it took about 2 minutes to load and it runs smoothly and looks really nice!
loved it so far!

How are sales going?

I think marketing strategies may help its getting the links out there and enticing the gamers to commit.
I think these will be the issues with any completed game
Im 50 now aint a kid travelled the world been in terrorist bombing shot at near kidnapped. Have an audi a house a fiancee a cat and ex dj and promoter and now home Manager. Have a degree and lots of quals and this is actually all true

sales have stopped in the past weeks. Gives me time to work on the game without people write bug reports on steam tho. Wich means i can take a small break and then come back with new content.

wow yeah i can only imagine how much stress all those bug reports could be specially considering GG´s reputation which probably doesnt make it easier.
awesome work you are doing- respect!
i will take some time over the weekend to play Dark Skies - i enjoyed what i played so far.

Neat! Very uneasy the feeling of just being let loose on an ominous map like that without flashing item indicators and waypoint markers.
Also big respect for the very thief 3 like ambient music!!

Glad to hear! This is my fav. GG project after all, so I wanna do it justice.
I'll do a commentary track as well, my YT viewers will just have to live with me babbling on in german

People like you really inspire me. In an age where photorealistic graphics are slowly becoming a reality and an ever increasing infatuation with dull, uninspired open world grind fests and multiplayer only shooters increased there are still folks making games like this! Great stuff. I am sure there are many more people that enjoy content like this!

Absolutely agree with Wolf, this is one of my favourite projects, and i'm chuffed to know my first and only weapon model is being used in it, was really happy to make that for Duch even though it's a type of model i don't usually make and i was a little out of my comfort zone.

Btw Duch, apologies for not doing the live modelling session i promised, my week off ended up being a nightmare and i probably ended up doing more work around the house than i ever do in a week at work, i promise i will get started on that AUG for you sometime soon.

Thank you guys so much, this is really motivating and I appreciate it very much! I have to take breaks a lot but when I have my "working phase" I somehow manage to have new ideas every time I am having a blast working on this project and without the community this wouldnt be possible. Preben, for fixing gameguru and adding the draw call optimizer. Smallg, T-Bone, AmenMoses and Dvader - thanks to their scripting skills, I can fill my levels with some cool stuff besides abandoned props and desaturated plants!
Also I want to thank Lafette for creating a lot of custom stuff for me, DANKE DIR ANDI
Also huge thank you to Wolf for being a mentor and an inspiration for me for years.
Also thank YOU Belidos, for creating one of the most fun weapons of my game! Also I want to mention GraPhiX and Granada for Constant Support.
AND FINALLY THANK YOU EVERYONE who plays the Game and Supports my Work! Love you all

Quote: "Btw Duch, apologies for not doing the live modelling session i promised"

Don't worry about it! I know there is much more important stuff going on! If you find the time I will of course be happy to have another weapon in my game

Alright, that's it for this little speech lol...
I will take a break and then release another nice update sometime soon!

By the Way - As of TODAY May 28 - we have 43 Steam Reviews

34 positive
11 negative

wich means 74% are currently positive! That is a huge success for a gameguru game and honestly more than I ever hoped for!
Also the sales open up more possibilities for the game - new Voice acting, custom made assets and weapons wich will be seen in future updates

Hey all!

Little Status update here,

After a break and a few side projects I recently got back to working on Dark Skies. Released a few little patches this week.
The New content should be ready sometime in autumn. I have written down some great ideas. I hope I can make them come to live in a proper way.
Definitely, I will be busy.^^ Take care everyone and I hope I can share something new soon!

Alright! With the help of cybernescence and GraphiX I was able to reintroduce specular maps on terrain.
It makes quite a huge difference and adds alot to the levels!
Check it out below! The Changes are already live on the steam version.

Looks spectacular!! The game now has a very rain soaked feel to it which is adding a lot compared to the "dustbowl" look you had going before. Small details are important

hey all!

As a big Fan of autumn and the time around halloween, it is no secret that I am working on a halloween map for Dark Skies.
It will have a small side questline and unique reward.

Here is what it looks now:

Ha! Same with me! I don't celebrate Halloween but my well being always goes up drastically once the dreadful summer is over.

And as always, looking forward to the map! It'll be a great opportunity to revisit dark skies and see what you have been improving over the months.

I noticed one of the reviews complained about the cutscene not being skippable, Cine|Guru by default will skip cutscenes if the spacebar is held down. (for 1/4 of a second IIRC)

Another complained about the cutscenes being 'grainy video', were those actually video cutscenes or Cine|Guru ones?
Been there, done that, got all the T-Shirts!

You gotta be in a special frame of mind to complain about the cutscene resolution in a hobbyist indie game. You know, where the overwhelming majority don't have cutscenes...
