LOL basically all the OBJ files share the same UV layout each model has been stacked on top of each other the normal map will only apply to the top most model (the last one added to the UV layout) this was done to allow the textures to be shared with each model (quite clever really)
I am not sure if this is a correct way of doing things (I am sure others have done this) specifically in GG I don't think you would get any normal to work with 'stacked UV's' if you can I have never heard of it, the only option is to give each OBJ a unique UV it would be possible to layout each UV in exactly the same space giving the same co ordinates for each part of the model (they all seem to share the same primitives) this would allow for texture sharing but it is beyond my skills.
the best I can do for you is unwrap each OBJ and apply new textures (I would use the same textures for each model) but each model would have to have individual texture files, the other thing to note is those models are quite high in polys that dropship is nearly 20k and for detail it would need to have at least 2k textures which would make 14 ships quite a drain on GG.
I am sure I am correct in what I am saying if anyone can point out that I am talking a load of rubbish please say so
What ship would you like to have as your main ship I will convert that one next so that you can play with it, I also need to double check the PBR workflow UE4 was mentioned but now it seems like it is a UNITY workflow again I am a little lost and confused
