Studio Tarkus1971 - the setup, a few different screens here, this is where it happens in GuruLand here.

The big synth is the KingKorg, the little blue one is the Novation Ultranova and the white one on the chair is the Waldorf Blofeld.

The new outpost level is going really well, with very little slowdown, whatever Lee did has certainly speeded GG up a lot.

Had to tone down the grass a bit as it was too bright, Level currently running between about 48 and 90fps.

A few new taster screens below.

Will add notes, and puzzles next and a bit of custom lua and some new music.

Ok, I have uploaded a new Video of the Massive new level 1, all redone, new music, notes, atmos etc, the map is a bit blank in a couple of places and the new music is a bit loud, just getting the atmos and puzzles teleports in place now, so lots of LUA head scratching to come. There might be a few typos here and there, just need to edit those out asap.

Lots of stuff to add as yet but its getting there.

What impresses me most is the Framerate even when capturing. What FPS do you have on average without running Fraps?

Ertlov, I use Bandicam for frame capture and I'm getting between 32 and 107 fps in v1.32 without bandicam running, and dependent on how busy the map section is.

I'm still getting some lag when turning with the mouse, I think that is visible in the video, you can see the framerate drop then catch up slowly, Im guessing thats the occluder kicking in.

A few more screens for you, empty areas are now filling nicely with some grimy, horribly gloom. I've removed some of the really tall building as the scale seemed wrong and they looked a little to "clean"

Still running at about 76fps on average, so impressive now, nice one Lee. Lowest 36fps, very detailed areas, Highest 97fps, average detail. I like a lot of detail, no sparse here, you must explore.

with juggling a full time job, about 2 months, I have lua puzzles in there now, and am writing more now. Still not quite done with this level yet though

The new 1st level is now almost full of entities now, just some fine tuning, make the fences less straight, etc, altered the lighting slightly too, looks much better now.

Thanks Dave. I'd thought I'd add a few more screens, even more detail in there now, once I'm happy with the detail then I will unleash the LUA on it. Scripts all working just need to integrate them in this level. Still no slowdown either.....

Big decision to go with cartoon shader effect now for this game, I'm finding that cel shading evens out the texture quality difference between GG and old FPSC entities. The effect looks very "borderlands" A few screens below.

While I applaud your development to try and unify the look of your game I'm not so sure that cell shading look is the best way to go?? Some of these screenshots are very "hard to read" and "uneasy" on the eye. Have you tried decreasing contrast perhaps?

I'm in the same boat. Trying to pinch the most out of GG's mechanics for my game....yet it results in so little "screenshotworthy" material. Oh well!
Thank you for your compliment! I'll attempt to improve upon it this year.

I hope my feedback does not come across as insolent. I just think that I have somewhat of an eye for gamedesign and post my comments on peoples projects I assume to be very competent.

Is there an ETA for an early playable demo of your game?

ETA not as yet, as im working full time, but i could put out a small demo of the 1st level, maybe restrict the free roam a bit to get some feeback on fps, etc.

1st videos of the training level, trying to use just text info now as information panel as this is less cluttering on-screen. Also a shift to the cartoon shader, which blends better with different artists entities.

Just got the Blofeld synth back from repair too, so new music will be coming soon.

Heavy into Lua and getting the robotic voice sounding clear.

All of this has evolved into something very presentable! I'd even go as far and say that it looks like something early from a professional studio!
The second video has a dungeon-crawly vibe to it and this sense of "investigating an area" that is very lacking from many modern games. Perhaps its the lack of real danger in games these days. With indie titles like this you never know whats coming

Exteriors are working well and are quite atmospheric. I'm still not the biggest fan of the cartoon overlay BUT it really unifies the look and I can't say that its ugly.

Soundtrack is very moody and really good! Glad to see I'm not the only one composing synth tracks for his games on here

all work is paused on this until the editor issues i have encountered are fixed, very slow editor, jerky, stuttering, unusable when an entity, marker or light is attached to the mouse pointer. Hope Lee sorts this one soon.

work progressing well now, will be firing up the ultranova for a whole heap of vocoded speech. so far over 50 individual speech parts, and thats just the training level. Lua to write and genral tidying of level.

I think I will realease in episodic form, each level, playing as a seperate entity, but a common theme.

You will need to play previous episodes, as clues will be given for later episodes.

Just a few new screens here, I have been re-writing my note scripts to use the sprite system rather than just images.

All working with sprites.

Just hoping Lee will include an update so we can change the collisionmode of an entity in the properties panel rather than having to edit the FPE files.

thanks lotgd, i like the way the cartoon shader makes different artists media look similar in style. Hoping to get some sort of demo out soon as well, just need to add in some lua customs puzzle in the 2nd level first though. Level 2 is set across 5 time zones, each with interlocking puzzles, giving me a headache designing them, so a lot of one off custom lua.

Go to your effectbank\reloaded folder, there should be a settings text file, you can turn it on by uncommenting (removing the //) the cartoon shader line, there's also a line further down tha you can change the value of to increase or decrease the effect.

Primary Desktop:
i7 7700,k NV1070 8GB, 16GB 3200mhz memory, 1x 2TB Hybrid, Win10.

Secondary Desktop:
i5 4760k, NV960 2GB, 16GB 2333mhz memory, 1x 2TB Hybrid, Win10.

As belidos said remove the // to enable the cartoon shader, and on the cartoon setting a few lines below that I use 11.5 as the cartoon impact.

1st level is done, and fully working, very small but I had a mate test it, and it took him 30 minutes to complete it without help, and its only set in a small building on 2 floors.

2nd level and up requires a lot of custom lua, and as I'm not really a coder, it's taking a while to work in the puzzles.

(There's is no enemies to shoot on any of the levels, so it's a challenge to keep the game interesting, there are guns in the game but not for shooting enemies!!!!!!)

Just added some new screens here for a huge outside level, get those optical discs and just get out of there. The last screen is with the added sprite retro TV overlay.
