Thanks synchromesh, I think I should be locking as I go, and using TAB takes away the pillars (for me anyway). I think the 'entity jumping' was because I had SNAP turned on from aligning the cave system. Not sure if that affects the entities as well.
The entities still appear a long way from the pointer when editing in 1st person though.
*Edit: "...Ctrl and mouse scroll " will raise and lower the level .." Ahh, I get that now. Thanks.
