hi there! i made a stupid mistake (overwrite best map with something totally wrong) and now i need to know if it's possible to unlightmap a lightmapped map again? i would like to keep this map and just change some objects, add some more stuff and then lightmap again including the new stuff. my problem is that i have three different saves but all of them are after lightmapping. i had one map that i saved before LM but i overwrote it

thanks

Quick fix is to start the lightmap process, once it starts with the first lightmap, to press escape to cancel, exit test game and save the map under a different name, you can save it under the same name, but it might not replace the old lightmap info

I've never paid any attention to the fpm file size after lightmapping as I don't use it, but is it really that significant of a difference? I always assumed the lightmap was a separate file, and with all the issues I've had with it, especially slower performance, I've just gone with real time, which works just fine, mostly.

56megs or better to lightmap the whole map area.

yes, the difference is huge. no lightmapping is about 1 - 2 MB and lightmapped is between 50 and 70 MB here.

Lightmapping is ridiculous by comparison I understand why, but it sure makes a massive difference!
