Can I use a character created in the character creator as a 3rd person controllable character?
Aftershock Quad Core AMD FM2+ 3.5 GHz 8GB Motherboard and Processor, A7700k apu, AMD HD7870 gfx card.

It does not take a lot to use him as a placement but he wont work 100% yet ...
Hopefully it wont be long before we can though ..
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

I cant get him to place on the start maker, like the wizard character does? how?

Just add this to your Characters .fpe file

isthirdperson = 1

Clear out the Dbo and Bin files and he will then connect ..
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

If you do all of the above it should work.

also this ONLY works if you have the start maker on the ground terrain. It doesn't seem to work on platforms or indoors.

I can see him in the level, but he wont walk, but the camera moves around the level and he is not attached to camera. Odd!

That sounds so very strange. I've actually personally never tested any characters from the character creation tool.

do you have ischaracter = 1 set in the fpe too right?

Considering I was able to get the car model to work with the 3rd person there has to be a way to get the characters from the character creator to work too. I have yet to see anyone accomplish this with the characters from that tool however :/

I know though for when testing out 3d person i had to delete the startmarker (and player) entirely and place them again to see if they would work after making changes in the FPE. Sometimes have to start GG from scratch and deleting the bin files all over again.

But you need:
isthirdperson = 1

instead of:

ischaracter = 1

in your fpe file, thought.

Anyway does not have all the necessary anims, althought there is here a tuto to do so, but you need animer+mender, or any other 3ยช party tool.

Oh I didn't know that I've been using both for 3rd person. Seemed to not work for unless i had both 3rdperson and ischaracter set to 1.

Yes both of those will need to be present and set to 1.

still not working here, I think there should be a "Make Third Person" button in the character editor to automatically write a working fpe file.

Technically I think the Character Creation Tool should automatically add the 3rdperson line into the FPE it generates, by default and if a character is not placed on the start marker it then references its aimain script.

If GG is "the easy game maker" they should make this happen by default so nobody has to poke around with the FPE files.

Hi Tarkus1971 I made a character in the Character Creation Tool and added the proper lines and values and it works fine. Noticed they added a melee attack to them (punching).

That's because at the moment your not really supposed to poke around with it
When CC Characters are 100% third person compatible then that's exactly how they will come off the assembly line .... so to speak

Indeed, I was going to allow the third person control system to handle ANY character but the ramifications of the subsequent 'test every character' was too great for the release schedule. I will DEFINITELY be looking at it again when we do the AI work (if it gets voted in).
