Hey there,

I am about to get GameGuru but wonder if it can do what I want it to do, which I'd argue is very basic:

The idea is basically to create a land- or cityscape which will allow for someone to wander while a narrative unfolds. No shooting, nothing scary, but while wandering around some clues will be given by items they found, sound that plays (can I upload custom audio/voice narration which plays at specific moments?) and text pop-ups, perhaps even a non-player character they interact with.

Also, the idea is for this to be accessible to anyone, even people who are not into gaming and have no clue about game controls, so it needs to be really basic in how to move around etc.

Not so much a game as an experience.

Is this doable in GameGuru? Could someone please advice me?

Yep everything you have mentioned is very do-able. You can even place sound zones in certain areas of your level so when the player reaches them the narrator can give tips and hints.

Certainly. In fact I bought GG initially because I wanted something that would be potentially capable of doing 3D adventures without me having to worry over the technicalities of writing the game too much. I hate basic FPS shooters with a loathing, so if I though GG was not capable I would have given up long ago. There are far too many mindless shooters and not enough games with puzzles and such (with some shooting as well of course, if appropriate).

Think that's why I'm so obsessed with Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series.

@lohtar GameGuru recently has been updated with video support too. So if you wanted motion graphics or things like that to show up to its very possible. You can also easily script in text prompts into your game too based off trigger zones.

Strongly considering though this would require that I get a new video card.... or a new console PS4/XBOX ONE. So either way there is something I got to buy I just haven't figure out which one yet lol

Cheers for all the other replies, didn't see them yet as...

I've been toying around with GameGuru for most of the day.

Summer is not going to so much of me I fear...
Slowly getting the hang of things and think I can make it work the way I want (only struggling with a terrain texture I got from the store and somehow doesn't show up...).

Hope in a while I'll be able to show some stuff.

Would anyone know of any games build with GameGuru which more or less do what I described? Curious to see how people go about it...

Fallout is all about story telling. I think that's what I love most about it. not just the game play (which is amazing) but the way the stories unfold and have the ability to change based on your actions.. so very cool.

You need to run test game ...press tab twice then select your terrain from the terrain options ....
Then when you go back to top/down view they will be set ready for you to use as well ..

Hope that helps
