@granada

Steam is saying you don't own GameGuru on the account you're using. Can you please check that you've logged in correctly.

Thanks,

Yep those seem to be cool packs to play with! I took them all (I redeemed the 4 codes from the Gold pledge and bought the 2 other packs).
The Character Creator also seems pretty good!

Let's make some cool levels wih all that!

Many thanks to TGC to supply us with such a nice package.

Just wondering if we can see exactly what we get with each DLC pack..? Have had a look at the store front and can't see anything.

Well as a Gold pledger back in 2013 for reloaded i can say im not to happy about what we got.
for a start like most have said got most of the models in these packs. There should have been exclusive packs
for pledgers not packs that any body could buy. £22.49 for GG + 4 packs which is less than half price than the pledge.
And befor anyone says well you got five steam keys, what you going to do with them either give them away, or sell them
Game Guru 11 Quid on steam so you might get 5 quid for a key.

Also any one know what was sent out on the 3rd march in the post as i never got anything and it is in my order histroy .

I see that in my product history also, but don't recall anything being sent except for the steam keys that were issued.
I will make an inquiry into it with the web guy and see what is up. Looks about the time of the steam launch.

I for my part am absolutely happy with the latest update (1.01) and also the DLCs! There is so much in there that I was looking for (Fantasy, cave system, dungeon system ...) that my heart just leaped of joy when I browsed through the new content. The new character creator is a good start and I am looking forward to see how it develops even further.

So a big THANKS from my end to the GameGuru Team. This software is going in just the right direction to help hobby game makers and even seasoned private game devs to make the game they want. Some more tweaks and features never hurt of course but I am confident that the team keeps on working on this hard so looking forward to the months to come.

Enough brown-nosing now. Just had to get my happy feelings of my chest.

I selected Fantasy pack as my Free one (link to get Free DLC now gone) but I was never able to download.
It isn't on my Steam account either for subscriptions & licences - just GG and megapack #2 which I bought

How can I get it now?

PS Wizrd character is there but no other entity mentioned in pack

You will need to get the Steam key from your TGC account steam keys page here http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=steam_keys

Then activate it on Steam as a game and you will be given your DLC.

Hello,

just went through the Mega Packs on STEAM ... really great. Awesome

Might it be possible, to offer a pack of them WITHOUT the Program GameGuru, since me or several other people already own the Version of GameGuru Program.
That would rock.

Uhmmm.... I found an entry on youtube on how to go about correcting the problems of "MiddleEast.fpm" (change of directory name in files from "Mega Pack 1" to "Mega Pack 01").

Trying to apply that, I found that my "Mega Pack 01" seems to have come without "Middle East.fpm" in the first place.
And I can't seem to be able to re-download Mega Pack 01 ?

Surely, "Middle East.fpm" is not the most valuable asset of all times, but I'm beginning to worry what else might be missing, and how to go about Mega Pack 01 if changes to GG might break it ?

Here are the map files that should open the middle eastern media.

They have been re pathed to reflect the folder name in question.

This is the correct name for the entitybank folder with this map:
mega pack 01

There should be a custom terrain also call desert-ME for this map also.
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks Myke, that was fast.

Not sure where the .dat file is supposed to go in the directory tree (put it alongside the mea fpm at first.)

Then I had explorer search for other .dat files, found several locations , but none seems to be working. GG always dies with a repeated diagnostic about runtime error 118 at line 11922.
But it seems to be loading entities at least into its workspace.

Here's my path to the entity sub-folder for Mega Pack 01
"D:\Games\steam\SteamApps\common\Game Guru\Files\entitybank\Mega Pack 01"
surely, capital letters are not significant, here ?

Edit:
Just for complete information: Desert-Me lives here:
D:\Games\steam\SteamApps\common\Game Guru\Files\terrainbank\desert-ME

the dat file and the fpm file go into the mapsbank folder.
And if you have the terrain then you should be good.

Capital letters don't matter there.

Your install path is fine, and the inner folder structure is in the game guru\files folder as you have found.

The RTE error sounds like a file is missing, and not a critical one if the entities are loading in the editor.
Can you explain what happens before, during, and after this error message please.

Not quite following that one yet.

ok, I fire up GG, go to File-> Open "Middle Eastern Map - MEA.fpm" (I made sure the .dat file is also in the mapbank directory)
GG says: "Loading Level", then "Loading Entities" (about 60, with "Rock 08" at the top), hen "Loading terrain".
Up comes the "Error 118 at Line 11922" Popup.
Clicking "ok" the 1st time makes GG display "resuming from previous session", then go through the same phases up to the "Error 118 at Line 11922" Popup".
Clicking "ok" anew makes it go through those phases once more,
but ends with a level rendered in the editor window which is 90% under water and the landscape cursor maxed out (larger than the edit window at 1920x1080). Way to the north west seems to be what looks like a city map with streets and crossings,
but WELL down underwater. Yet, no buidings seem to be present.
From here on, I can edit the map/landscape as usual, but to no avail due to the massively abundant water level.

The map editor log ends like this
656903 : gun 15:modern\Magnum357\gunspec.txt S:0MB V:0MB (313,0)
656911 : gun 16:modern\RPG\gunspec.txt S:0MB V:0MB (313,0)
656918 : gun 17:modern\Shotgun\gunspec.txt S:0MB V:0MB (313,0)
656926 : gun 18:modern\SniperM700\gunspec.txt S:0MB V:0MB (313,0)
656933 : gun 19:modern\Uzi\gunspec.txt S:0MB V:0MB (313,0)
656941 : total guns=19 S:0MB V:0MB (313,0)
657080 : _terrain_skyspec_init S:0MB V:0MB (313,0)
657088 : _terrain_setupedit S:0MB V:0MB (313,0)
661408 : _editor_init S:389MB V:0MB (703,0)
661538 : loadresource S:10MB V:0MB (714,0)
661561 : Prepare editor fonts S:0MB V:0MB (714,0)
661690 : Guru Map Editor Loop Starts S:9MB V:0MB (723,0)

with no obvious error message or diagnostic to be found in the file.

Hi yrkoon

Could you please verify your installation for any errors via steam ...

Go to your steam library and right click on GameGuru...Select "properties" .....then select "local files" and finally "verify integrity of game cache"

See if that brings anything to light and fixes your issue ...

Ok, try this one. I cleared the terrain to a stock one. see if this will open without the error.
See attached below.

Again both of these in the mapbanks folder.

Hi Myke. Need to go to work now, but had steam check my GG. It seems to have detected 71 faulty files which it replaced, then.
Tell you more in 10 hours

71? Wow, I've never had that many, but, once corrected, stuff seems to work, other than the bugs that are identified as they come in, of course. Good luck!

I get that a lot during testing.
Once that is 100% good, you should see improvements.

hmmmm.
1. try after this morning's self check. Nothing to the better, same effects as above
2. had steam check again, this time it found only 3 files
3. next try , same effects as above
4. removed .bin and .dbo files
5. next try , same effects as above
6. tried the new middle east desert fpm & dat : same effects as above.

@ Jerry : forgot to mention that I never experienced any misbehaviour with GG, so I never saw any reason to have steam verify my installations

@Pirate Myke : forgot to mention that I have GG on my two notebooks, and the middleeast.fpm failure occurs consitently on both of them.
They only differ in respect to the gfx card (GTX 780M vs GTX 980M) other than that they're both fitted with i7-4700MQ, 16GB RAM , w8.1and lots of disk space.

For a change, I loaded my equally loved and hated "Morning Mountain stroll.fpm", and it worked as always and as expected.
(I think M.M.S. is one of the more demanding .fpms, right ?)

tried the new middle east desert fpm & dat again : same effects as initially described.

checked the windows protocols: nothing apart from a few heap violations, which most likely correspond to errors reported by GG indicating array index out of bounds conditions.

EDIT: BUT both instances of Mega Pack 01 were - of course - downloaded very soon after they were released to the public.

Myke, it seems I'm the only one having that problem, so it may be caused by my downloads of Mega Pack 01

I would be willing to re-install GG from scratch, (using steam's "Lokale Spieldateien löschen" (delete local game files )),
if I were confident that I can download those 4 packages again. But Í don't see an option to do that, whereas
packs from the store seem to be re-downloadable with no problem.

Damn, the new fpm loads with no complaints, but no entities are being placed on the map,
although they are all displayed in the library panel.

EDIT: renamed the .dat to the name the new fpm has, but that didn't help.
I'm guessing that "[color=skyblue]M[color=red]a[color=skyblue]ga" in "Middle Eastern Map - Maga Pack 1 MEA.fpm" is a deliberate "misspelling"?

Is the entitybank\maga pack 01 folder labeled this way?
Arg, thats crazy.

Is there a new missing media.log file generated with the map name.log?

Attached is what my Guru-Mapeditor.log file looks like and the pathing shown. Put this a separate folder to view it please.

Polygon wise yes But I think big escape is a lot more testing, CPU and GPU wise.
I didn't know people hates that map it is a very large map

No media missing log.
Yes I copied the "Mega Pack 01" folder to "Maga Pack 01" ... no change .
Even renamed the new folder to "Maga Pack 1" ... no change
and even to "Maga Pack 1 MEA" .. no change
in all cases, the entities DO get listed in the library panel

This map was not supposed to be released yet, for this reason, as it appears to only work on my machine. the machine it was created on. But they changed the folder name after wards, and then had the map re pathed. I will look at the inner workings of the FMP file and see if I can spot something.

Where was this initial video concerning the folder change, if I may ask?

I will just create a complete new map from scratch and post of those assets.
Truly sorry for this.

@wizard of id:
I HATE this map because of the bazooka men, because for no apparent reason, they come across most unfair (maybe it is a problem of the bazooka projectile, but they hit ME almost every time, even if they pass me meters above or sideways- and on the contrary, my bazooka projectiles look as if they fly only centimeters off of them (when actually targeted well at short distance at their bodies), explode right in front of them or at wall or tree right next to them, yet those guys don't get hurt at all and happily keep firing theirs at me.

Other than that, this is one fine - if not THE finest - map available for GG and shows very well what can be done. And it is CLEAN! Can't tell you how BORED I am of all those icky, grungy, smeary dirty loony bin/ bunker levels, especially when the story runs "you awake in ... " one of those, no matter how clever the dim lighting may be.

So, a big thank you for making M.M.S.

Never mind, Myke.
I'm definitely not insisting on having that map I could even populate it with entities myself, now, that the map loads ok.
I was largely lead to ask because of the video which looks like an official TGC GG vid.

EDIT

AND you showed a lot of effort to help me, you deserve praise for that!
Thank you!

@yrkoon: I had never seen the video before, not even sure how you found the link. Let me give that a go and see how it works. As I have the original map with the old file path names still. I will give it one more shot.

I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the kind words.

I did this by the video and it works for me, so I offer you another try.

Thanks Myke,

Same thing again, only that I'm getting a missing media file which says
MISSING MEDIA:
entitybank\\decals\Black Smoke.fpe=replaceentitybank\\decals\Black Smoke.fpe

But it's really no problem to me, if this map won't work properly, especially since you revealed that it isn't really meant for the public.
Not sure where the video came from and why it is there, it looks as if it came from tgc. Never mind.
On the other hand, it shows one interesting solutions for cases like this, so it is good to know that things like this work.

Although the problem is certainly one of the rarer cases, I wished there was an additional "user tools menu" in GG
whose entries could be defined through an ini-file and call user written tools which for example do such kind of mass conversions
or other tasks like removing .bin and .dbo files.

Anyway, I don't wish to bind your energies to this case, I'm sure they deserve much more to be focused onto those GG users who REALLY are facing problems (although I can very well understand your engagement, since I likewise have a job involving me in support tasks. Let alone that it is a map created by you.)
So, thanks again, and I suggest we let the matter rest for the moment.

Ok, sounds good on this map, I will bring up the issue of it working on the users machine only and see if this carries to other testers. This replace function is a new feature and that is why the video was made. But they never distributed the map file, and this might be part of that reason.

I will file this with bug report for now. Thanks for testing it out and bringing it to our attention.

A fine suggestion and I will add it to the request list.
