I see a couple of models in the store that support trees with snow, and grass with snow. Does the game itself support landscaping snow scenes, mountains, etc?

The Software itself does supply snow terrain and snow landscape, but has yet to be arrived with the power to make it actually snow.

now we would need a "snowbox" to have an accurate winter level. i just returned from "the valley of the yetis" and thought a snow level would be interesting...

We have added weather system to out mid-term list, and it's one we're excited about. It will support snow, rain, hailstone, wind, storm and desert heat (currently list subject to change) and should be as easy as selecting a drop down from a slider box or adding a single command in script.
PC SPECS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, Intel Core i7 920 (PASSMARK:5008), NVIDIA Geforce 9600 GT GPU (PASSMARK:752) , 6GB RAM

I have wondered about this for awhile now. A shader effect for snow on the ground and on buildings etc would be a great addition! I'm not sure how far you mean to go with weather but having buildings slowly build up snow over time would be awesome. Being a fan of Shenmue I have always thought it a good effect to have in a game. Certainly would beat having to re-texture all the buildings and swap them using a script

SPECS: Q6600 CPU. Nvidia 660GTX. 8 Gig Memory. Win 7.
