Every time I try to open Game Guru it opens Steam. I went off line with Steam and things worked fine.
Today I got a message that they could not contact Steam and would not open Game Guru.
Is it necessary to be online with steam to run the program?

Goto here and RMB on the GameGuru.exe and choose copy then paste short cut onto the desktop.

C:\Program Files (x86)\The Game Creators\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Game Guru

This will run the program without steam being on and should still run if Steam is on, just not be attached to it.

There will be no MP in this method. You must have steam to play Multiplayer.

That is what I did. I always have the Internet on when I am running right now so Steam is available. I haven't tried it without the Internet going so I don't know what it will do in that situation.
Maybe it is looking for stream because there is a multilayer option and when it finds Steam it tries to open it. I am not sure.

the shortcut that steam installs goes thru the steam Dll. RMB on it and look at its properties points to steam not GG.

Open file explorer and find the gameGuru.exe file in the location I mentioned above and make a shortcut from that.
You will not be calling the steam dll and then Game guru will be running on its own. But there will be no MP in this way.

Now if you are running steam and you use the short cut you just made, you should see that you may be online with steam, but it should not show that you are playing GameGuru.

If you can't connect to Steam, run the steam.exe file. If that doesn't work, you should be given the option to run Steam in offline mode, and then you can run GameGuru.
