Is there a possibility or creating a chat system for multiplayer with private messaging and commands (ie: /dance or /laugh)?

There is already a chat system just press enter to show the chat box and enter to send. Commands will for sure be added in a later update but are not a priority at the moment. I think most users would much rather have new game modes, commands and core engine features.

In that case, what is the chance of creating a larger style MMO with Game Guru? One with multiple instances and a server? Monetization (people can buy coins or cash to buy items in the game)? Auctions and trading?

Since chat exists, can private messaging between players be a possibility?

If so, my team may consider using Game Guru for our large-scale project.

In theory all of that is possible, but it isn't on the list of features that have been heavily requested. The more a feature is requested the sooner it will be done.

The list is in the developers hands and gets added to every time new ones come up and tallied for repeat ones.
So we know what are the popular feature requests.

We have lots and lots of lists.
