Product Chat / Game Guru Not Updating to changed textures

I change the textures on say sword and add a normal map etc and Guru doesnt change them in app. Im setting them to Sword_n etc, but no change.

Are you also making the required changes to the .fpe file if you are renaming them ?
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

I don't know if this is still necessary, but I do it out of habit. It's probably still good practice even if it's not necessary. Did you delete the dbo and the bin?

Be sure to close and relaunch GG. It seems to load everything at startup and tends to ignore changes made in the same session.

pretty much you have to do all of whats mentioned above. Making sure the paths are changed in the FPE, delete all temporary created files and make sure to completely close GG and re-open.

Are you referring to the weapon it self or the pick up object in the weapons folder.

There files are in 2 places I believe.

The actual weapon it self is in the gamecore\guns folder.
the pickup for the weapon is in the entitybank\weapons folder.
Open the fpe file here and see where the texture is pointing to. See if that is indeed the one you want.

Im in the guns folder. Ive tried all that. And now theres no textures at all just black meshes.

I got textures back. Guru wasnt working with anything but dds, but still can not get a normal map to show up on any weapon. Im in the guns folder/medevil. I created a Gun_n and a Hand_n for sword and they wont show up on model. tried dds etc. Also Guru isnt auto creating dds versions of textures. I had to manually create the gun dds etc.

Check the gunspec.txt. if the textured= is blank, you may need to have it be textured=gun_d.dds
If it can't find the texture it will sometimes display as black. These fantasy weapons currently won't work with normal or spec, etc. maps. Only the diffuse. This is probably because the shader they use is meant for assets which use only one texture and not multiple (fantasy weaps have separate gun_D.dds for the weapon) and hand .jpg for the hands mesh. This will most likely be rectified in a future update but for now these older weapons don't support full shader effects.

Actually I got normal spec etc working on them now. I had to go into guns and create normal etc there. Then go into the fpe and add the texture lines. The hands are messed up though because of the to uv thing, but the weapons look way better now.

It is the v1019 already for download, or not yet ?
In the steam announcements I see it "is online for download now" but my GG still appear at v 1018 and sure, I'm online with the steam open......
Also I've check the file integrity twice, to be sure....
AND: still exist "autoflatten = 1" on the building entities and crashed on the first map editor test in the v 1018...
Please remove "Stiky" from forum subjects with the oldest FPSCR and GG version !!!

It was just a test so I normal and specced the full texture. Usually I would dull the spec on the wood etc and just leave the metal shiny.
