35+ Large buildings for GameGuru

Hello! I am posting this to show my finished model pack, Guru Buildings, is now available. Some of you may have seen the various buildings models I have added to the store recently, and I have now finished the pack. My goal with this pack was to expand upon the stock buildings and keeping with the modern day theme, the textures are grunge and worn, and the buildings are large and enterable. There are no doors, you can walk right through the buildings. I may create a simple door entity later that would be a free addon for the pack it will come down the road. Below are some screenshots.

There are essentially five styles, Compound, Outpost, Depot, Favela and Slum. I have tried to explore options for variations, giving developers a wide range of styles for these buildings. A lot of time went mainly into the texturing, creating these textures from many different source photos. Each buildings has a 409px x 4096 px Diffuse, Normal and Specular map. Lighting works well with these models if your graphic settings are adjusted and set to high. Lightmapping works on every model.

What do you guys think of the models? I have more plans and already am working on new buildings however I am taking a break from publishing buildings. I will be trying to learn to expand my knowledge of weapons.

@unfamillia - Thanks a lot! That was my thought when TGC first made it public that Multiplayer would be coming to steam. I've played a lot of online shooters and I knew that have some large buildings would be fun for guru players to use in there levels.

@E30Legend and @shakyshawn - Thanks a lot you guys!

@Teabone - Thanks! CGTextures is my home. I do primarily graphic design as my main hobby so naturally I enjoy texturing more than modeling, and I would say that my textures are better than my models, but I'm always still learning.

@Tazman - Thanks man! I've been watching your stuff lately, looking good. Our modeling styles compliment each others assets very well.

@granada - Thanks a lot for purchasing the pack! I hope you enjoy the models and have fun with them, they were a blast to make. My next goal is to play multiplayer with them , I cant wait to test them out online. One day...

As always thanks everyone for the comments, I try to be as active as I can on these forums and with the store. I am really excited for the Guru project, and it feels great to participate in the modeling community.

They look great! I will probably pick this up at some point.
If I could make one suggestion, it would be to include foundations (to appropriate buildings) which is about a meter high and have a some simple steps in front of doorways. The reasoning for this being that the buildings could then be sunk into uneven terrain.
Here is an example of what I mean. Here are a few more which are more extreme 1,2,3.
Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3, Intel Core i7 2600K, 16GB Corsair DDR3, EVGA GTX 970 SC, Win7 Pro 64-bit SP1, Primary monitor @ 1920x1080, secondary monitor @ 1024x1280

EAI's idea is pretty decent... and so is your work! There is a strong sense of realism going on here. I'll definately pick these up once need arises.

@Errant AI

Thanks a lot and what an excellent suggestion EAI! You have solved the question I had regarding how I want to move forward with improvements with the pack. It was brought to my attention by Rick that the buildings would be much better suited with floors and some accessibility to the roof. Prior to that suggestion of yours I was contemplating just uploading some flat planes for flooring but I like your Idea much, much more.

I will be uploading these "foundations" as additions to the pack as soon as I have time and I return from vacation in two weeks. Hopefully the store will let me add to existing packs and everyone that previously purchase can download as well. I can easily create matching foundations that the developer could place and sink into any terrain, and they easily place the receptive building on top of it. This would solve my no floor problem and work great for the terrain like you have suggested! Thanks man!

@ Wolf

Thanks Wolf! I appreciate your comments. My goal with making this media is to supplement the stock media, and produce something with a lot of detail. Of course the textures may be regarded as overkill by some members of the community, my intent is to provide high res textures that can be easily down sampled if the need arises by the developer.

Extremely realistic looking models! Although, I would expect nothing less coming from you, considering your past work.

**UPDATE**

Hey all! I have returned from my vacation, and I have begun work on the first update for this model pack. It will be a free update for all users who have already purchased the Building pack, and will become included in all future purchases of the pack. These assets will be just adding on to the existing model pack.

Building Foundations

Large structures that are stairs, floors, and concrete sections that can be sunk into uneven terrain, and rise the buildings above the surface of the terrain for a more detailed, larger effect. I have finished the original set of models, and the textures are looking how i want them. Stay tuned. I'll try to have this update finished within a few weeks. Thank you to everyone who has purchased my pack, it has been great creating something like this and I hope all purchasers will enjoy and use this new addon in their games.
