I was wondering, can someone please tell me when the Final Full version of FPSC:R is going to be released. It's just that I may end up expecting one in the mail, yet I don't know when. Anyway, can someone please help me with this?

no1 even has a date for the next beta let alone the fully finished release date. sorry

Oh gosh you won't see a "final release date" for quite some time. You may get the latest build before Christmas however. But for the final version I don't think we'll see that till the year 2018 ( kidding ).

Mid 2016 at the latest, I'd bet (if I were a gambling man, of course). However, why bother waiting on the mail? It's available digitally whenever it is released. If you are expecting it soon, however, I'm afraid you've signed on for the long haul, sir!

There is no such thing as a final version, when it comes to FPSC, there will be a version 1 eventually, once the product as been stress tested enough to be considered stable. Then comes the much finer tweaking, added features not slated for version 1 ect.

So be aware even though V1 will be a complete product it will continually evolve and receive updates if and when needed.I am sure they have a target date in mind, but apply the Valve approach, it will be done, when it's done, because no one knows when that will be .

I didn't think that you sent the software out in the mail anyway, isn't it only available as a download.

I've got something to say - It's better to burn out than fade away.

Hi,

There won't be a final version for a long while as it will continue to be developed for a year at least, and that will just be version 1.

There won't be a DVD version in the post as the product is now only available via download. If you paid for one in the early day (pre 2014) please contact support.

Many thanks,

SC

well they did have it so that on final release there be a boxed copy but weather that's still true I don't know, seems redundant to me as downloads are possible but then cd copies would come in handy no doubt for some.

That's what I understood as well when I signed on. Not a big deal, I thought it was odd that they even said that in the first place. I didn't realize it had changed though, in the meantime.

Me too. I ordered in 2012 and I'm pretty sure a boxed copy was part of the deal. Has it changed?

If my post seems rude or stupid, don't be offended. It's just a failed attempt at humor.

According to SC, it has changed. Like I said, not a big deal to me. My Dark Game Studio Bonanza disc is still in the original wrapper, in a storage bin somewhere. I already had everything in it except a couple DBPro plugins, which I downloaded. Still, it was cheaper to buy the whole kit than to buy the plug ins separately. The disc really isn't necessary, and really impractical with continuous updates. It's not like they promised it would be autographed, LOL!

I'm guessing that it changed at some point, but those who paid when it was in the deal still get what they paid for.

I'm kinda sad it won't arrive in a nice box at some point. I had the same understanding, but I do remember a discussion on the forums about it ages ago. Several people said they would do without the DVD or CD. A sign of the times perhaps, but having a physical copy is always nice, if slightly redundant. A manual however is always welcome, and reading on a screen never as good.

I agree....I went to great lengths to get a new boxed copy of X10 .... I like physical products.... Pretty disappointed about that

I must admit I am partial to glancing now and then to boxed versions of software sitting like nostalgic collectors items gathering dust on the shelf.

However I am happy to forgo that in the case of Reloaded if it saves TGC some cash in development, production and sending out of DVD versions of an initial V1.0 as it will still be as some have said perhaps missing some of any additions that will surely follow.

The manual point is also valid and online live access to help files and so on in the cloud is nothing like as useful or helpful as being able to browse offline or as hard copy. As humans many often still long for something more tangible to interact physically with and relate to.

Times have changed for sure and hard copies of things that can now be wholly provided for digitally are something we have to live with in many instances for good or for bad.

My only issue is there is to much reliance on the internet.....People store everything on it from family pics to thousands of pounds worth of software...

Unfortunately one day its bound to go sour for whatever reason... I insist on hard copies of everything I buy digital or otherwise....If Its not obtainable I make my own with or without a crack as long as I already legally own the product.....

If one day for whatever reason I have no internet I still want to have a backup of my stuff...

I was jan 2014 and my account definitely said boxed version ( awaiting dispatch ) but is doesn't now it says ( Updated )
My original invoice is charged £1.20 shipping so it couldn't have been changed that long ago.

As long as I can download what will be considered a final stable-ish version ( without the need of steam or anything ) I can put it on a disc myself and make my own cover then I can live with that

I understand well things change in Development and as Uman pointed out...Money is better spent on developing the product than thousands of Discs, Boxes and Covers
