I have dark matter 1 and those files are in directx format, so yes they would work. Don't recall what format the textures were in, or if they even had normal or specular maps, so they may need converting. Just a heads up, they would be a few steps back in quality compared to what's available elsewhere. (Reloaded store or Classic model packs)

I have not, Bisella, in fact, I haven't installed Dark Matter since about 4 computers ago (8-10 yrs ago). The models are pretty "old-looking" for lack of a better description. They are very low poly, though, so they should be pretty efficient. Personally, I wouldn't use them today and wouldn't even try.

I used a car out of that pack in my pickup script video. Added specular and diffuse to improve it, but worked okay, if a little dull without. I would imagine the anims will work if set up in the fpe, as they are vertex based and I have had no problems with those anims myself (at least I don't think they use bones in those models).

Ok thanks
So I think I'll have to wait for better models

Hey Bisella!

Yes, Dark Matter does work in FPSCR, however, its ancient and very lowpoly.

Allow me to link you to some newer Models:

FPSC-Classic Packs
3D Models - Textures (formerly Dexsoft)
Arteria3D

Their Media is easy to set up working in Reloaded!

sorry to hijack this thread and if mod feels they should remove this post then please do, but I've just looked at the models suggested by Wolf and they are most impressive!!! but my question is many come with LOD and I have seen this mentioned many times in these forums but not being a modeller I have no idea what it is or how to use it in Reloaded if a model I own has it?? so if someone could explain I'd be most grateful.

Wow, I was just looking at those sites and I am particularly impressed with Arteria3d's offerings, especially the $189/year membership. Has anyone tried that? It says "Download all assets from the site". Does that mean at no additional charge? It really doesn't say specifically. If so, then that's a screaming deal! Please let me know!

RustyNuts: I don't see your post as hijacking the thread, but then I'm not a moderator, lol. I think it pertains to the subject at hand. At least it does now. To use LOD, I believe you just need to specify the distance where the LOD (1, 2, etc) is called in the fpe. I have never used it, but I'm sure I've seen it there in the fpe's of those models that use it. I'm pretty sure some of the plants and trees use it. I think if you don't specify it, I'm pretty sure it will still work fine, it will just show the original mesh at all distances, so there shouldn't be any problems.

EDIT: Unless, of course, that extra few hundred polygons are all it takes to crash your level, lol. I wouldn't worry too much.

EDIT: I just verified on Arteria3d's "About" link that indeed, the membership requires no additional fees for the content on the site. This is fantastic, and so far, the best price on media I've seen. Ever. And it looks like it's mostly if not all available in Direct x format!

EDIT: Some of the characters are relatively high in polygon count, but most of what I looked at weren't too bad.

Call me stupid but whats the actual difference between Indie and big studio prices.....
Ok I understand a bit but does that mean indie prices are limited to personal use only ?

It didn't strike me as that, but you might be right. I clicked on one model that was 29.99 for Indie, and 299.99 for Big Studio. (I'm assuming you're referring to the 3d-models-textures site?) I assumed "Indie" meant an individual or small teams that aren't likely to make millions of dollars off a title. I may be wrong! LOL.

Thanks wolf
I bought the package industrial1 http://www.3dmodels-textures.com/store/modern-models/Industrial1
There are problems .... some models are very high poly, most models have multitexturing. Included in the package was a level of uniy3d. I think that the models are meant for different engine, not fpscr

I just joined Arteria3d for $115 for a year. It's still on sale for the next 15 hours as of the time of this post. Compared to $189, it's an even better deal, obviously. $189 isn't bad, though, still. I am picking through all their stuff to see what might work (without too much effort, textures are jpeg, some have multiple textures, and many are very high polygon/vertex count). I have only a year to do this.

I just finished putting a crate in Reloaded for comparison. Just had to create an fpe: Arteria's crate is the big one:

(No normal or specular maps yet on that crate) Just think it looks more realistic still. This is merely an opinion!
