Like it or not..Windows 8, 9 , 10 or whatever is whats ahead.
For other things I need to do its likely I will be upgrading my PC to Windows 8.1 64bit ...Probably anyone buying a new PC will get that anyway..
I have heard issues with Win 8 and just wondered whether TGC had considered any of these in V.1009 ?

So far I have had no compatibility issues with Win 8.1 on 2 machines with the exception of beta 1.007 where I had an issue with a section of the Reloaded map (on both machines). That issue was resolved with 1.008. Win 9 or 10, though, may be a completely different story. One piece of advice I can offer is to install with Admin privileges. I got in the habit of doing this with every program. I also set compatibility mode for Win xp sp3. I honestly don't know if that made any difference as I just did it automatically. One interesting thing I discovered was that I had a few programs that would not run in either Win 7 (with those same settings) or XP SP3 but do run in Win 8.1 with those settings.

I have also had Windows 8.1 since I first started with Reloaded and have not had any issues with compatibility (Yet), but there is always time.

I also have been running windows 8.1 with no problems. I also might add that I have been using Windows 10 beta version testing programs on. When I run Reload 1.85 it runs faster. That might be because I did a clean install. Knock on wood I have not seen any problems as of yet.

The only issue with Reloaded and Windows 8.1 is that you need to run as administrator to allow Reloaded to write files, which I believe is the same for Windows 7.

Never had to run win 7 with administrator so far

Question though.......Why do you have to use administrator rights at all in 7 or 8 ?
Isnt that something that can be adjusted in the programming ?

Just Curious ..

Recent windows don't like apps that write to anywhere but the my documents folder, we will be looking at fixing this in a later update, but as there is a simple workaround it won't be just yet.

There is an even simpler workaround - grant the 'files' folder full write access (this could be done by the installer) - and you don't have to 'run as admin' at all. But the recommended Microsoft approach is to not develop applications that write to programs folder.

Ah right...I assume this is because complex programs in the programs file could cause issues..... I can understand people who don't know what they are doing messing things up in the program files......

Which is why I don't think Microsoft should do it !!

I have dual boot (Win xp sp3 and win 7 Ultimate - OS at 32bits each) and no problem. Just a lite slower in win 7.
I have 4GB of RAM only....
