I'm building a phone booth and I want to make the windows clear. I'm trying to do it by just using one texture instead of multiple textures but every time I saved the picture the windows that were transparent go solid. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how to just make the windows transparent and keep everything else solid. I use paint.net. Thanks

.dds format with dxt5 compression. you need to mask the window part out with alpha. you will have to play with it to get the right transparency.

You will also need to have the texture size at multiples of 2. 1024 x 1024, 1024 x 512, 2048 x 2048

Thanks pirate myke! I change the resolution and I saved it with dxt5 compression and that seemed to do the trick. I had no idea the resolution would affect something like that. Maybe that's why my skyboxes never worked...

you are welcome, Yes direct x textures need to be that way. You can check the skybox sizes and see fi the are a multiple of 2. I believe that if it is not then the exporter ignores the compression. Anyway glad it is working for you.
