Missus goes away for a wedding in mid November, and wondering if anyone would be interested on seeing a one hour live cast level made from scratch with viewer's input and see what we get come out? Anyway any ideas or thoughts about this idea welcome

I would We are thinking of switching to twitch to replace a blog day, covering some tricky techie subject from the software, and would be great to see it from the end users perspective first. If you are arranging a day and time, I can even announce it on our TGC feeds so you get some traffic (no pressure)

I hope I'm off work the following day! I've a feeling that with time differences it'll be necessary for me to be either up really late or up really early! I'm okay with it either way!

So a bit of interest here and even from lead developer, I best brush up on my game making and sort out my stream to make it as smooth as possible will nail down a final date and time early November and I will be doing a shift change at work during the period missus will be away so that opens up a night where I normally go to at least 3am my time anyway so that would be more normal time for some but this is early speculation, still some planning to be done which I'm thinking I will open up to the community as well, so to start with let's choose a terrain type, I.e will it be a city with a sewer, or a desert level, a tropical level with islands?,

Some of the stuff that will be available for this:

TGC city pack

The awesome sewer pack

All my store media

The extra large sci fi walls pack

The gold pledge assets pack

So let's get some ideas flowing so when I put the stream live we can hit the ground really running

Oh and @lee if you would like I can also put some info on the side of the screen about pledge costs and where to pledge and with permission display the fpsc reloaded logo on screen aswell

I think this is a great idea, but to allow as many users the chance to get involved, it might be best restricting the media just to default, free store and gold pledge media. This would help a lot of users to get involved without too much in the way of investment. It would also allow the publishing of the final FPM so users can play around with it. (If that's what you want).

Just a thought..

Well.... What I want is for this to be a community project so what I'm thinking of doing is to make up a survey voting form with google forms and get the community opinion on everything but I like the suggestion of keeping it all standared media so all can play with the fpm after it.

I'll try to tag along if I am about at the time and real life doesn't interfere! I've considered doing this sort of thing myself, but am not sure my internet could really keep up with a stream. Good luck!

This is a very interesting idea. I like it.

so, your main idea for this, is to show new users and old users alike, how another developer creates a map using the software and to discuss different techniques and ideas along the way?

So, in the long run, the end result would be a small community made level.

I will watch. Count me in.

Cheers

Jay.

At the moment I'm having a hard time streaming fpscr, I can stream borderlands alright but fpscr gets really delayed and glitchy, working on it but not looking good, could be due to my upload speed not being able to handle it

That sucks, I was really liking that idea, but I understand. Perhaps someone else around here has a decent upload speed who could host it? It's funny, in my neighborhood I've a fiber node about 200' away from my back patio, but my actual feed is over a mile away. And I work for the damn company! LOL! I've been trying to get one of the guys to get under the street to re-route some of the cable but it's been too damn hot for someone to do that "as a favor", even though he was the one who suggested it. It's cooled off now, maybe I'll have a little luck over this winter (I live in a desert). Anyway, it's a great idea and who knows, maybe someone will step up to the challenge. Maybe it'll be even better with the new beta!

Yeah hopefully someone else might be able to pick the idea up and carry it on but yeah I live in regional western Australia on the edge of a desert as well so I understand the heat but no fibre node anywhere near here I'm running adsl2

At the moment I believe a higher upload speed, I only get 300kbps or less and I think with the quality downsizing I have to use to stream it seems OK with borderlands but with fpscr it just makes it jump all over the place and yet still says I'm not dropping frames, a higher upload speed would allow for a better quality capture to be streamed however and probably eliminate the issue, unfortunately its impossible for me to get a higher upload speed as I have the fastest connection available in my area

I may start streaming it when 1.9 comes out as i have streamed alot of games in the past but will wait and see what 1.9 brings performance wise no point in doing it with the current version as it may put people off.

Ah, pity, I was looking forward to it. I can understand your Internet woes, pretty certain my upload is 3 times slower than yours, possibly more, and I live in a English Village, not the desert. How can that be? Apart from the fact I still have ADSL and not Fiber optic I really need to upgrade at some point.

I'm on VDSL2 which is fiber to the node, then rides copper from there. I currently have 9Mbs dn/ 896kbs up (over a mile away). Don't know if that would be enough for this. I could get a 12 M circuit but my upstream would still have the 896k upstream limit. If I could get one of my coworkers to do as he suggested and cut over a couple pairs from my pedestal to the closer DSLAM, I could get 40M down/20 M up. Unfortunately, that isn't likely to happen anytime soon!

Alternately, I could buy a new house. We're running fiber to the home in new construction. Gigabit internet! I swore when I moved in here 5 years ago I would never move again, but who knows...

Managed to get 700 Kbps today and got an average quality stream going with no dropped frames and no mouse glitching, can only stream at 480px but better then 240 right , ran a test today and has a 20 second delay (well 17 but yeah) so this may be back on the cards, need to get lucky and have someone else online at the same time to test view it for me so we can see if it's viable from the viewers side because here i am streaming and viewing on same comp, just 2 screens

Well at the moment I am looking at November 15th for the stream and hoping v1.009 will be out by then, big hope I know but if not then 1.0085 will have to do, something I do have to do but is decide on type of terrain. I'm thinking islands like in the video I did for the alpha cadence, can't link to it right now as I'm on my phone but yeah. Any other ideas using only the standards assets and the gold pledge media.

Something like this but bigger islands and more assets and gameplay, opinions?

If anyone's on and has a spare minute or 2 to check if my streams working OK would be great if you do just me know in the chat on twitch, going live now until my missus gets home which could be 5 mins or half hour

ENDED, a one hour 1 minute stream and was going well until the last 5 minutes my upload speed kept dropping to 500kbps for some reason and this was causing frame drops and stuttering, not sure if anyone from here saw it as 1 viewer jumped in and then back out within 30 seconds

Hey guys just wanted to share the map i made while test streaming, heres an image of the map:

The idea is to fight your way through the islands to the commander's tent and kill the commander, gets harder the closer you get.

Anyway to get everyone through the first section the first gun is on the first island don't leave without it , also i find plays better with health regen off otherwise it's too easy.

FPM attached only 385kb

you need to have the foliage pack, i believe thats the only pack required

oh i also use henrys free chair but its not really required just more props in the level which i have attached here as well a few of henrys free models that just need to be unzipped in your entity bank

Edit uploaded henry's free assets

PC Specs: Windows 7 home 64-bit, Amd 7900 3gb DDR5 graphics, 8gb DDR3 Ram, Intel i7 3.4ghz

I just downloaded your level and played it. I lost my life countless times, lol. I had that same guy that went into the water that you had this morning (my time)!
