Will the system ever take other 3D file formats like .OBJ or .3Ds? Why do some of the DirectX files work and others don't?

Hi Colosso i believe Reloaded format will only be .X what sort of problems do you have with some of them the only ones i have trouble with are characters as it deforms the character.

What software are you using, Colosso? I've learned over the years that not all exporters of any format whatsoever are created equal. Included with that is that there are many export settings involved in each. Around here and in the old forums you'll run across a thread now and again about export settings for various softwares. It would be nice if we could get a repository of sorts where each program's export settings, either in a stickied thread or maybe even in the docs that come with Reloaded.

I have several different software programs for creating and editing 3D objects, but the only one that exports .X files that work is MeshX. I have thousands of assets but can't get them into the format that works. I have even purchased software from TGC but I was wondering if the engine will allow other formats. Its not and end all problem but It is frustrating. I would hate to spend hundreds of dollars on software that I can't use.

I use 3ds Max with Bond1 exporter http://mjblosser.com/kw-x-port-for-3ds-max/

You can also use an older version of blender and that will work.

Blender 2.69 is the one you want to use. It works. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but there are a lot of excellent tutorials on YouTube (Blender Guru(Andrew Price, just awesome), Blender for Noobs, BornCG, plenty of others, but those are what I used/use. Best of all, it's free and extremely powerful.

Hi
Try Sketchup or wings3d, they are both free and easy to learn

You can add a plugin for sketchup called directx exporter
Wings3D can already export format .x

The software I use? ... Autocad, sketchup, Spazio3D, pconplanner, Kerkythea, wing3d, paint.net.
