Once Reloaded is on steam what is to stop someone like Bundle stars putting it up for 10 quid ( which would cheese me off a bit )

I bought Axis Game factory from here a few month back ( NO LONGER AVAILABLE ) but on the steam forum it appeared the creators had no control over the fact it was available there at that price ....they just confirmed it was a reputable site.......They must have lost loads in revenue ?

Retail was £110..... I got it for £6.99

http://www.bundlestars.com/all-bundles/game-factory-bundle/

I would hate to see Reloaded at this price next year on a deal

BTW.....This is a Unity Addon not a standalone creator !!

This happens because the creators of that tool set their regional pricing for lets say... Russia at a much lower rate than other regions and did not region lock the steam keys!

This means the keys can then be re-sold to users not in Russia for example for lower prices. This is all legitimate there is nothing that restricts steam keys being resold and many sites offer this in many different formats such as the bundle site you linked.

The Steam process with TGC is still in the early stages so I doubt anyone will be able to comment directly on this situation just yet, but I am sure it will come up at launch time. We are working closely with Steam for FPSC Reloaded so issues like this will be dealt with hopefully in a way that is beneficial for all involved.

One must first understand the steam market and the vast network of merchants ( I used to be one) I made aprox. $1500 alone, just by reselling games on steam to people all around the world. A common thing I used to do was buy bulk games at 75% off then stock them up and resell them months later at 20-30% off full steam retail. I had to end up Filing my W-2 with steam because I was making so much. If BS does sell reloaded in the future they would probably sell foreign copies like the next was saying. or they would wait until a steam sale like I used to and sell cheaper copies. Either way if FPSCR does not put advanced KeyGen protection they will get Keygen'd like many other groups have did to multiple games on steam. This one game on steam got every last key stolen and they all got released by some hacker group. so just a heads up to the Dev's so that they can spend a few days coding what I would call an investment on an unforgiving market.

I hope the steam version is kept separate from the version we download in our account !!

I for one do not want to have to be steam reliant for reloaded..... Please keep our separate download version active ..

I would also like to have the option to choose not to have steam for some projects. I can see this product making some great visualization for architectural purposes and would have nothing to do with gaming what so ever.

If anyone knows of a link which describes how we can region lock our Steam keys, that would be a very useful first version feature. I am not too fond of the idea of a thousand Russian Steam keys floating about unlocking Reloaded in the UK and US. I had assumed Steam automatically restrict Steam keys to Russian ISP portals, but if it's completely legitimate to buy a Russian key and use it in the UK then there is something seriously wrong with the whole thing (from a developers point of view that is)!

i dont know if its possible, but maybe only bronze should go on steam to start with? limit the damage until better locking of keys is found or something? maybe as a last resort?! cos u can always direct them to your store for other pledge lvls i would guess?

Not sure how you can solve this as the software (Reloaded) will need to connect to a dedicated server for registration all i can suggest is a call back feature to see if the key is already in use and registered so only one key can be used at any one time. From what i remember with x9 x10 you would see it all over the place with the same serial i think this should be a big thing with reloaded as we have already seen it being shared to the masses.

For non steam users you could use ionworks then you can use the online product activation service from this it could look at the serial data base and see if the serial has been registered and if its in use and it can check every time the software is opened also the SerialShield retrieves hardware information to generate a MachineID and that makes it alot harder for people to crack and share.

There's something wrong with steam full stop if you ask me..... You kind of lose total control of your product

... And phone for scripting.

I do not know nothing about steam, and I do a lazy question. Why not work with TGC store only?
It is my understanding, steam is a great showcase for selling games, but can also be a great home for pirates. Perhaps I have misunderstood.

I personally have no problem if an edition of Reloaded goes on steam..... But I don't want to be reliant on it myself..

I would just prefer the Steam edition to be separate from the retail that we can download from our account and use without steam...

well i can see steam being handy later on for users its always there even after tgc stops its work on reloaded long term (by which i mean long years later ect) and the auto update feature of steam is good also, i just wouldn't want to have to use it as a must, and would rather keep all tgc products in 1 download space for ease. i have agk and older classic model packs there so makes more sense to me.
