What if the edges of the terrain simply faded into transparency and thus the skybox? Similar to how the terrain detail fading works. Perhaps fading into a color could be another option, with a slider.... fade to black, fade to white, fade to green, etc.

I was noticing with very tall mountains (or the invisible jetpack script) that the terrain edges become visible (fog is always an option but perhaps not desired). If there was a simple fade out, then it would give the illusion that the terrain goes off into the sunset.

As for the editor, it would still show the terrain square so that we know where to stop placing objects.

Maybe that would all look terrible, but the idea occurred to me and I wanted to voice it.

Yep, still empty and flat but, like the skybox, give the illusion of a circular world. Skyboxes with distant mountains and such would definitely help with that. The edges aren't even noticed on a ground-level game, but it seems like Reloaded is designed for building in all directions, including up!

perhaps not a catchall solution as with genuine infinite terrain. Some of us are keen to make free roaming style games, similar to fallout and elder scrolls where much larger maps are necessary.

Quite simply just import a skybox with mountains in it, or hills, or whatever.

that doesnt solve the problem of the space between the land and the skybox though.

also some of us may want to create bigger maps than the current landscape allows.
