Putting the finishing touches to my raptor. The one in the foreground is using the entity_basic shader and looks like it's supposed to (still some work to be done), the one behind is using the character_basic shader, and doesn't look right at all. Hopefully they fix this in v1.009, so I can release it.

That looks awesome.
The run does look good, but the tail appears a little stiff.
This will be a very popular model no doubt.

Conjured Entertainment - I must still do some work on the minor animations, such as the tail movement whilst walking and running, head movement etc. This was just a test to get it animated and moving at the same time.

ok

I am still testing animations too, but only on immobile items so far. Your dinosaur is looking great and has inspired me.

Very nice! I have been working off and on, on a raptor model for FPSC. But have yet to complete its lower jaw and bone structure. In the first attachment. In the second attachment is models from online I used to test the scripts I was working on in FPSC for dinosaurs. Which was going very good.. thanks to the DarkAI commands but then Reloaded came out so I pretty much abandoned the scripts at that point. Since I'm completely new to LUA.

Animation test with my incomplete model

Animation test using an existing model but with my own custom bones+animations.

Your animations are very smooth by the way and with fantastic textures! Very impressive

Thanks Teabone. I'm using Substance Painter for most of my texturing. I've still only scratched the surface with regards to all its features, but it's a wonderful program.

I just looked at substance painter and it looks impressive! However, I am a little confused about their pricing. The "Pro" license is $449. The "Indie" license is $99. Can't argue with those prices, they seem very reasonable to me. What confuses the Hell out of me is that if I bought the "Indie" license, it would cost me $491 to upgrade to the "Pro" license! And such a bargain while it's still in beta? I hope their math skills are simply being applied toward the software vs. the business side of things!

@Jerry Tremble - according to their website, the official price for the indie licence is $149, the pro licence $590. To upgrade will cost $441. The $99 is for the beta indie licence. It's a great program, though, and I think it's a bargain even at $14

This looks like a wonderful program, I will have to save up. it will save me fishing thru 25 layers of grunge and chips and scratches to make the textures look good.

Downloaded the demo program of it and played with it for a half day. Now I can see how people get those great textures on characters. The particle brush has got to be the coolest thing ever, throwing substances at you model and having it put on your texture. Great stuff.

It's a lot of fun to play around with. If only FPSCR supported some of the extra channels, like metallic, roughness and height.

@Gtox-thanks, I found those prices you quoted from their website. When I first looked, I was confused by the chart below:

That's a fairly confusing page. It's the $491 upgrade that they've got wrong. Change it to $441 and it all makes sense..

It's looking good will be looking forward to seeing them in store, fingers crossed. It's nice to see a-bit of wildlife even if it is Jurassic haha!. The tail needs to perhaps sway a little from side to side. But over all it's a really nice piece of work, must of took some doing.

Thanks Wenga. It needs a decent behaviour script before it can be store ready, so that will take a little while. I would like to create a bunch of wild animals, as having wildlife roaming around adds to the immersion of a game (think Skyrim, Far Cry 3).

Yeah that is true, roaming, attack, sleep that kinda thing. It certainly is a fantastic looking model and really goes to show what people are capable of creating with some serious hard yet no doubt tedious work. kudos!.
And yeah far cry was epic when it came to wildlife. Really set it apart.
I was trying more low key i wanted flies to add a little realism for garbage cans, skips etc. I tried with no success to adapt an older model from fps. But i have no idea when it comes to writing a script. In time, took me long enough to work out how to create models let alone animate one too haha!.

Finally, thanks to the scripting skills and generosity of smallg, the velociraptor has made it into the store.

There is a die anim - frames 622 -705. I'll have a look at the script and try to fix that.

the reason the death animation does not work is. Lee never fix this problem in the past which is the main reason i gave up on guru. i refuse to use the stock models soldiers and i report this to Lee so many times i just gave up. He fix it one time then it got broken with another update when it was still fpscR. I have so many custom characters ready but this is the main problem in the end. the only way you are going to have a death animation is if you can rig it with ragdoll. the ragdoll is what broke the default death animation. no it does not matter if you put ragdoll=0 it will not run the death animation. it is broken. I have watch bond1 video on how to ragdoll the bip. it is not worth my time because to know i have to do this with every character i bring in guru is a pain.

I managed a basic death animation on the carnivorous plant model. I'm working my way through the script now, and I'm sure I'll figure it out (if I don't, then smallg will ).

Syncromesh - the command 'SetAnimation(7)' right at the end of the script isn't working (not sure why, as the SetAnimation command works elsewhere in the script). Replace it with SetAnimationFrames(662,705) and it should work. I'll reupload the model to the store to fix that now.

I've updated the store model to include the modified script, so hopefully the death animation will play.
