Hi all. I am wondering if there are any sites you would recommend for textures. I could do with a base I can work from of brick and other textures. I search the net every so often, but there are so many, and you hear some are not legit either. So where would you recommend I try, free or paid? For instance is Mayang okay? Their entire pack seems reasonable, but even then it mentions water marks on the textures, which sounds pretty useless.

hello dvader

Try this site www.gametextures.com

I'll buy the textures here .... 19 euro per month for 200 high quality textures

The software I use? ... Autocad, sketchup, Spazio3D, pconplanner, Kerkythea, wing3d, paint.net.

Being a web designer, I tend to collect sites with resources, here are a few:

This site has some nice free ones, http://texturemate.com

If you only want a pattern instead of a texture, http://patterncooler.com is good.

As far as paid programs go, Filter Forge (http://filterforge.com) is pretty nice and they have a demo for you to test it out.

Hope those help! Game Textures looks awesome too

A friend of mine is running one
http://duion.com

He is shooting them with his cam and even if most stuff is raw, he is updating it quiet often.
The textures are under CC0 - Public Domain

I get a LOT of textures from the bundled DVD that comes with 3D Artist Magazine! I have collected a good few GB's worth of 4K maps from those DVD's and models! Plus, its a great magazine.

But, yeah, CG Textures is where it's at! Either that, or get your phone out whenever you are out and about and start snapping some interesting textures. I know WOI does this.

Cheers

Jay.
