I have sounds when picking up weapons and ammo. When the AI shoots weapons.. they sound correct. When I shoot a weapon (any of them) there is no sound. Anyone know what file I may be missing or setting I need to add? The fire.wav is in the folder for each weapon.

Thanks for the help,

Mark

I get the same thing on mine as well. What I've noticed, is that if you shoot the handgun at the ground in front of you, you hear your gunshot. The further away (still pointing at the ground) that you shoot, the quieter your gunshot is...until it disappears again. I don't hear any report from the rifle at all.

Ok, after 2hrs of troubleshooting this, It apparently is my Creative Lab Sound Blaster SE card/drivers causing it. I used my motherboard built in sound and it works fine. I remembered I had this problem before with Torque Game Engine 1.5, years ago. They used an openAL to fix the problem.

Hope this info might help.

Am I right in assuming this is an issue which conflicts the WAV sound we are using for the gun fire and the sound drivers being used by the system. I would be curious to know if you can play the sound directly on those systems experiencing this issue. You can find the WAV here:

I played the files (all of them, for both the rifle and 1911)on my system just fine. Still have the afore-mentioned issues in-game.

@Lee: that was one of the first things I check, they play good. Went into the game and no weapon sound for my character. The ai weapon sounds worked and weapon pickup sounds worked fine.

@mbarn : You mean the issue is that the character does not make a 'fire' sound when they shoot their guns? I take it the sound is played when the player fires it's gun?

@Lee: Sorry, meant player weapons do not make sound when fired.

If you disable the playback devices in your sound properties control panel (Windows OS) except the one you need, does that solve the problem?

Do you think this is a Reloaded issue? Try other games with both sound settings and see what happens...

Never had the issue before but its strange as i get full sound and all works great when played via my speakers but when i use headphones i get the same problem as the guys above.

The sound is there we just aren't hearing it i also see you have got the player shooting & jump on ch3 and player moving and AI shooting is on ch1.

So my thinking is if they only have a 2ch sound card that would ex-plane somethings

@TattieBoJangle : your video shows the same thing that is happening to me.

With my onboard sound card all sounds work fine. With Sound Blaster Audigy SE have the issue as in your video.

I went through all my setting and tested them with FPSC-R.

@lee what mark is saying sort of confirms what i was saying because the gun and player jump ect is only on ch3 we dont hear it on 5.1 change it to 2.1 and its ok.

I think you need to change it so it spreads over all channels.

You should know that I didn't have this issue in previous Alphas, in the get to the river demo. So it can't be my sound card, which is an excellent one I had placed in my 1 year old (now) Alienware Aurora. Still waiting to hear what this bug is.
