First image is looking nice mate.

I know you said you are still working on it, but, the texture doesn't seem completely seamless. You might have missed a small section in photoshop when trying to clone and heal the seam out.

The seam is closest to the camera in the middle of the image.

I wanted to play with changing the terrain textures, but, not yet looked into it. How easy is the texture change over?

Cheers

Oh the first image is meh first test I did

Second one is what I managed after a couple of tries. :p

Very very easy, however I sent an email to lee, there is a minor problem, you need to follow the way they produced the alpha on the original texture, as the shader creates is own specular as far as I am aware, however this specular map is stupidly high, and looks unrealistic. From I a look at the shader I didn't find and tweakables.

So it's no hard, just annoying working out how the alpha needs to be, also I am not using a Photoshop using, using a combination of gimp and a seamless texture generator

Well, I might have to have a go at creating my own terrain textures now!

I use Gimp mainly as well. Its quite good at creating seamless textures (obviously manually, the automated plug-in gives terrible results).

When you say working out how to alpha needs to be, have you found a happy medium that you might want to share? (yes, I am being lazy and trying to steal your many hours of trial and error!)

So, the alpha channel you refer to is the alpha of the diffuse? Or is it the alpha of the spec map?

Cheers

Works like a charm now

I will have an experiment with it this weekend.

I assumed it would be the spec map. Any hints on what you did or changed?

Cheers

Specular will use a greyscale masked layer and diffuse a masked white full transparency layer, obviously you need to open specular and diffuse as a layer, then apply the layers in gimp.

Took some time to figure that out.

Looking nice mate.

Is there a reason why your 'near vertical' angles have little to no texture stretching?

What is this voodoo magic?
