I made it with MilkShape!

Not sure how to add a texture to it, because if you add one it cant only be like just one texture? how am I suppose to add a texture for the leg(silver) table top (wood) and the chair (red) and the chair legs (silver)

How do I add textures all at once like that?? Btw this is a whole model together not seprate chair/table

You can look at the screen shot down below just click "download" or "view"

First thing you need to do is put all the textures you want for this model into one texture. Keep in mind if you need to tile out a large area. Keep your final texture map at multiples of 2, such as 1024 x 1024 pixels. Should be more then fine for this model.

Once that is made then you need to go to this link.

This is the digital manual for milkshape 3d.

This explains how to assign the texture and the material and then UV map the object and so on.

The hardest part is the first part gathering the textures and putting them on one.

what paint program are you using?

Which ever one you are using open and make a new blank image say 2048 x 2048, Make the background either transparent or black is fine.

This gives you room to import 4 1024 x 1024 images into the new image. Place the textures into the new image so all texture you want to use on the table and chairs are in the new image. Save as a .dds file. Example below:

Now I am going to have to refer you to the milkshape tutorials again as I use 3d max.

Go to Here: http://chumbalum.swissquake.ch/ms3d/help/

there is under the examples in the index on the left, Applying a texture. That will show you how to apply the texture to the model.

it also goes through how to use the texture coordinate editor which gives you the ability to map certain faces of your object to parts of the texture.

I am also sure you can search the Classic forum for milkshape tutorials and there should be some expert milkshape user help from that search.

Hello

I am quite a newbie but started my modeling with Milkshape as I thought it was one of the simpler ones. I also understand how difficult it can be trying to follow a video tutorial, so I thought I would have a go at my first tutorial to show how to put material on an object in Milkshape

It was a bit long because of the screenshots so I put it on the website I started.

Please follow this link: http://reloadedobjects.com/tutorials/textureinmilkshape.html

Hope this helps

I've got something to say
