I have a drop of around 10fps in the version.

Its going the wrong way, though much as I expected.

I need 10fps more not 10fps less - That makes 20fps more now

Performance has gone from 5fps on my dragon village map to 14fps on my gaming laptop. Haven't tried it yet on my gaming rig that will be the real test.

Overall impressed with v5 so far. 3D editor is great, fly through mode is a big help ! Going to play with LUA later (sounds wrong), that's my weekend gone

So many goodies to test !

Interestingly, I get a massive boost of FPS (over 60 FPS in some cases) on my core i7 quad core laptop with 8gb ram and a Nvidia GeForce GTS 360M and a slow down of over 20 FPS on my much newer dual GPU laptop with core i7 dual core with 8gb ram and a Nvidia GeForce 745M and Intel video card. I make sure to run it on the Nvidia GPU, so it's not using the wrong GPU that's causing it.

Weirdness.

Strange, I have found it way more fluid and smooth than prior versions. I can run around my medieval world scene with everything on full quite nicely. Before I had to lower stuff down to get it to perform as well. The FPS it reports isn't massively higher but it is much smoother even so. On more bare scenes I find my player runs around so fast it seems silly!

The performance on my machine on the open of "Get to the river" has gone from 81 fps down to 43 fps (sky view was 91 fps ) . The new features are very nice , I was just surprised on how much of a frame rate drop I got . The river demo does run very smooth for me . No real complaints here ....

I have noticed strange changes depending what graphics card you using.

I used a 8800 gt and fot frame rate of about 35 to 45fps then when I updated to a geforce 460gtx the frame rate went down not up and its a more powerful card.

Its a strange bug thats been with fpsc for some time now.

Hi,

Lee told my that Sky maps that use the scrolling skies will cause frame rate drops. So maybe try non scrolling sky maps and see if the frame rate is similar to the previous build.

So far, I've experienced slightly higher framerates than the previous build but have experienced a few issues:

1. After using the 3D editing view (F9) I find that I can walk/run off high mountains and keep going for ages until I land again - although I have kept the gravity setting to 'on'.

2. The animated palmn tree now moves VERY slowly and the mesh and texture look a bit weird (stretched?) at the top.

3. Like someone else mentioned on another thread, I can sometimes get a 'long line' (the only way I can describe it!) appearing right through my level. This seems to be very random and sometimes doesn't appear at all.

Has anyone else noticed these things?

I went from getting 9-20 fps to over 60-100fps (in a full map with max items placed) , maybe we should all place our specs and compare to try to figure out what is causing this issue

I tested it with the go to the river map.

In previous versions i easyly hold on 60fps.

This version is 23 fps. So its getting worse.

I have no scrolling sky selected.

Also my map of the city was 60/70 fps.

Now it is around 20, and i get sometimes the message of low fps detected.

My computer is'nt really slow.

I7 3820, 3.6 ghz. with 64 gig mem. video card nvidia Gforce 660 TI 4 gb.

@ HarryWever That's odd, as I have only a Q6600, 8 gig ram and a geforce 260GTX. I haven't experienced much difference, apart from I can get a higher frame rate now than previously on high settings. If I lower it down a little on the shader settings I get

I only just now noticed the scrolling skys very nice to have multiple layers. Gives me many ideas.

When i looked directly at the sky I got about 32FPS (with nothing on the map)

well I did a test of the flat map, and the random map generation. I get 10-12fps on both looking forwards and around 25fps looking up at the sky on both of them. when beta 4 was released I had about 30 fps looking forwards and 130ish up at the sky, now I re installed beta 4 the other day, and my fps is not as high as previously noted with beta 4.. kinda strange really how for me at least beta4 is down now aswell ;( not a clue why though should be the same as before?

my specs are:

Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit

Processor: AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz

Memory: 4096MB RAM

Available OS Memory: 4078MB RAM

Card name: AMD Radeon HD 6450

Display Memory: 2795 MB

Dedicated Memory: 1012 MB

Shared Memory: 1782 MB

ok seems the alpha is somewhat random in its fps, i was getting a fixed 10-12fps looking forwards and now a huge 214fps looking at the sky... nothing has changed looking forwards though, which confuses me no end lol.

I still get tearing in the terrain map if anything I get more. Frame rate is good and find in game edit is great. But impressive besides the tearing. Hope soon we can get terrain splashing to get more ground texture

I've been having mixed results myself. Sometimes a level runs fine, other times I get a weird jerky run or walk. The FPS registers at 60, but it jerks really badly. obviously some odd bug, but no idea what causes it.

my fps is down again from the posts above now i only get 25fps looking at the sky, the other day it was 214 or so ;/ not sure why this is but defo somethings need ironing out, hopefully beta 5 will show some improvements in performance for me and every1 else, but i think i should save for a newer gpu but its a case of which 1 lol as every1 seems to get mixed results at present.

My experience leads me to believe nvidia is the best way to go. Had a gtx 8800 ran x10 no problem then I got a hd5850 was good but had texture issues on x10. Also did not run 3d crafter and screen tearing and lots of faffing. I then got a gtx660 and still have it.no faffing all things work and I get great fps on reloaded. So I am nvidia all the way from now because they have stable and better drivers and run things with no hassle
